Shane Carwin talks about his start as a fighter

On Saturday 3 July, the interim champion of the UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin will enter the octagon for the biggest fight of his career against Brock Lesnar, king of the division, in a unification fight in the UFC Title 116, July 3.

It has been a turbulent journey, to say the least, for the King of Colorado and, as you can see below, he always had interesting things to say on that climb in the ranking of the heavyweights.

Competition (2008)

Everyone has hobbies and compete is mine. It's something I love doing and I always wondered if someday that will change. Someday that will change, but I like that and I have been blessed with what God gave me and I will go on for as long as I could. "

Work and Fight (2008)

It must manage the time and sometimes it is hard to go to work the next day and lasts a good sparring session. But things in the office are good and everyone is happy for me, then I'm in a very favorable position in my work environment. "

Football Dreams (2008)

I should have gone forward, but never happened. I ended up being excused and went to fight for my senior year. Before one of my struggles, I tried to enter the Philadelphia Eagles. They ended up putting myself in the New England Sea Wolves, but at the same time I was negotiating with Colorado School of Mines to become a wizard and go to the faculty there, then I ended up choosing to get my engineering degree. "

Wrestling (2008)

I have to say that this is great work ethic. You are there with coaches screaming with you, and you notice that fight was never a glamorous sport. You never do for anyone, just for you, but is always there for his teammates. The fighting is a sport of discipline and mental strength. You learn many things that can help outside of MMA. "

Prior to his UFC debut against Christian Wellisch (2008)

I trained like never did before, is a great opportunity for me and I will try to take advantage of any opportunity that arises during the fight. I am very excited and, to speak the truth, is the realization of a dream, because this is the place I always wanted to come when I decided to continue fighting. "

In the locker room before the fight against Wellisch (2008)

We (Trevor Wittman, Nate Marquardt, Christian Allen and I) were there laughing and playing. I am very relaxed and so we like to act, always having fun, despite the hard work. "

And the bell rang (2008)

I just want to go there and fight and have fun. I love this sport and I love to compete. I do not expect a spectacular knockout or end, but obviously I want to win this because I am extremely competitive. I feel that if you work hard and train hard, things will correct in the end. "

Training (2008)

I do not know how you could train eight or nine hours a day - that seems a bit too much for me. If I had to train for that period would not appear at the end of the week. "

Passing the first round (2008)

I think it is a territory that, when I come, we'll see. But when I'm in training, I'm training to go beyond those three rounds of five minutes. I am comfortable in training and I think I'll be comfortable in the ring too. "

England fight against Neil Wain (2008)

It's home to him and the fans will be supporting. I was in situations like that in college, where I went in and was frowned upon, then it will be very different. "

Maturity (2008)

When I think of my time faculty, 18 to 22 years, I think that the way to face life is very different from when you have 30 years. I have a career, a family and the life of my family. At age 20, you are still trying to discover who is it?.

Success (2008)

You just go there and fight well. Anything can happen in a fight and I really believe that. An error of a second can cost a struggle. And while you understand that and have an open mind, you will be fine. I am an aggressive fighter like to fight and end the fight. "

Finisher (2010)

It is a struggle for me and thinking I never entered a decision. When I'm there, started the game and I want to end up immediately with that. "

The Contender (2010)

I've been competitive since age 6. I always loved playing football and fighting, but being in the octagon, competing for the UFC, there is no feeling like that in the world, and does not explain, you have to do it. "

Comments Maldosos (2010)

I do not really pay attention to what the other fighters talk. I always spoke that you can talk what they want, but the only time that matters is when you are competing in the Octagon. That kind of thing never affected me. "

Victoria (2010)

You always rehearse those moments in your head and I'm mentally prepared for that. I already envisioned and is good. I am happy to fight and work on something that I trained. And I want to be one that is known for devastating knockouts and an intense ground and pound. I want to be known as the fighter. "
