rashad promises to continue fighting style that won him a jackson

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans has vowed to continue to use his wrestling base in future fights following the success of his last two outings inside the octagon, admitting it was easy to forgte what ultimately brought him to the dance.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Evans said:

“I felt like I needed to bring [wrestling] back after the Machida fight. One thing that happens sometimes when you find success in one area – and I found success standing up – I kind of forgot about the area where I was strongest.”

“Me doing wrestling now is just going to be something I do from here on out. Because no matter how far (I get) in my stand-up, I’ve always got to remember that my bread and butter is my wrestling, and everything else stems from that.”

“One thing you understand really quickly as a fighter – and the fans don’t really understand – is that you’re not punching with eight- or 10-ounce gloves on. You’ve got four-ounce gloves on, and underneath that is a cast. And it only takes one good shot for the fight to be over. I wasn’t trying to take no shots for no amount of boos.”

Evans now looks likely to get a title shot at current light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the end of the year. The fight between the two men could feature on the year end card, something reserved for the biggest bouts of the year.

Dana White talks about the fight between Nogueira and Jason Brilz

UFC President Dana White gave his opinion on the controversial decision that gave the victory to Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira. He described the decision of the Juiz as "bullshit."

"I found a shit decision. We are always in that position. I am not a judge but I thought Brilz won the fight. You can not leave it in the hands of these judges. Escultam I always say that, and still leaving. I think it could Brilz have knocked out a "Little Nog" at the end of the second round. He should have gone over when Minotouro was beaten. "

"Jason Brilz and Joe Smith both went with high expectations to do that fight. Brilz many people stopped today in the evening. Joe Silva is the best matchmaker in the business and perhaps the best in any sport of fighting. Brilz came today and showed many people were wrong. Everyone knows how dangerous Minotouro. Brilz was a big fight today. "

Brilz may have lost on paper, but his performance certainly did no wrong in his career. As Minotoro, he will have to put back if he wants to be considered a legitimate challenging in the future.
