Jackson’s first choice of opponent, Forrest Griffin, is reportedly months away from being ready for action, meaning a rematch will have to wait for now. The other man the Memphis star has been linked with, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, is also out of the loop after agreeing to meet Ryan Bader at UFC 119 in September.
Jackson is looking to rebound from a three round decision loss to bitter rival, Rashad Evans at UFC 114. The star of “The A-Team” movie was riding a two fight winning streak heading into the fight after defeating Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine.
As for Machida, his run as light heavyweight champion was brought to an abrupt halt when he squared off with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for a second round at UFC 113 in May. Prior to that he’d defeated the likes of Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans.
