Dana White announces Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz to coach TUF 11 - Chuck Liddell y Tito Ortiz como Coaches en TUF 11

UFC President, Dana White tonight announced on the broadcast of the season ten finale of “The Ultimate Fighter” that former light heavyweight champions, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz will be the coaches of the eleventh season of the reality show.

Dana explained that Chuck had been hassling him to come back for months and felt that this was the perfect scenario for him to re-emerge following a string of losses. He revealed that he has never seen Liddell as motivated as he is today, eager again to fight and be a coach on the reality show.

On Ortiz, Dana said that he was a big believer in ring rust and felt that the Tito Ortiz we saw against Forrest Griffin would not be the same Tito Ortiz we would see when he steps into the octagon for the third time against Liddell.

The pair have squared off twice before with Liddell taking both via TKO. The first meeting was back in April of 2004, with a motivated Liddell knocking out Ortiz in the second round following months of bad blood. A rematch happened two years later in December 2006, with Liddell taking one round longer to finish off his foe.

Dana also announced that the season would feature one weight class, middleweights.

Ambos peleadores ya han estado como entrenadores dentro de The Ultimate Fighter. Tito Ortiz durante la tercer temporada y Liddell durante la primera, con los dos llevándose la victoria final para sus respectivos equipos.

Después de mas de un año sin actividad Tito Ortiz regresó al UFC, durante el UFC 106 donde enfrentó a Forrest Griffin y fue derrotado por una decisión dividida muy controversial.

Por su parte Liddell, estaba semi-retirado, por sugerencia de Dana White quien ya no quería verlo en el octágono, esto después de haber sido noqueado en el primer round por Mauricio “Shogun” Rua en UFC 97. Según palabras de Dana, la insistencia de Chuck fue tanta que decidió incluirlo como entrenador en esta temporada.

The Ultimate Fighter 11 comenzará a transmitirse en abril del 2010 por Spike TV y se sabe que gente como Nick “The Goat” Thompson, Bobby Southworth, y Jason Lambert estuvieron entre los asistentes a las pruebas que fueron realizadas el mes pasado.
